On Sunday 6th August, acclaimed chef and culinary director George Calombaris is set to host four of the country’s most revered chefs at the iconic Hotel Sorrento. The five-course Mediterranean-inspired lunch will launch a new series – Friends of George – showcasing the culinary prowess of some of the industry's top players.
To launch the series, George will be joined by Shannon Bennet (Vue de Monde), Karen Martini (HERO), Coskun Uysal (Tulum) and Morgan Hipworth (Bistro Morgan), with each chef creating a special dish for the occasion.
For $159pp, guests will start with Mezze by Coskun Uysal, head chef at Tulum, which took top honours in the 2019 Delicious 100 and was named the number one restaurant in Victoria. Next up is acclaimed chef and television presenter Karen Martini, with her iconic Vitello Tonnato. For the third course, Shannon Bennett of Vue de Monde will showcase his culinary finesse with a John Dory schnitzel. Mains will be covered by the host of the day, George Calombaris, who will prepare a slow-roasted O’Connor beef short rib accompanied by a potato cake, tarama and chive jus. And for dessert, rising star Morgan Hipworth will unveil a sweet surprise.
For drinks, the chefs will each have their favourite cocktail on the list, with beer and wine also available to purchase. Guests will be encouraged to sit back, relax and enjoy the experience, as the chefs entertain with personal anecdotes and insider tidbits.
What's more, $10 from every ticket purchased to the Friends of George chef series will be donated to OzHarvest – an organisation committed to combating food waste and alleviating hunger across Australia.
With the first round of tickets selling out in under 24 hours, a second release has just been announced. For more information on how to secure your seat at the table, visit the Hotel Sorrento website.
