With an abundance of beautiful beaches, bush walks, natural hot springs, day spas, yoga studios and plant-based eateries, it’s no surprise the Mornington Peninsula has become a wellness destination for those looking to relax, recover and reconnect with the mind and body.

Inner States founder Lucy Jarvis moved to Mount Martha in 2020 and instantly fell in love with the relaxed lifestyle and sense of community both on and off the mat. Whether she's teaching a yoga class or delivering her ritual products across town, she loves to hop between her favourite studios, grabbing a bite to eat or a chai before heading to the farm gate to stock up on local produce or jumping in the bay to cool off post-practice.

For those looking for the most nourishing spots to eat, move and swim, here are Lucy's top picks on The Ninch.

Commune

The newest yoga sanctuary in Balnarring, Victoria — a place where community and connection align. Owner Lucy Atkin created the space to give back to locals and spotlight her favourite teachers. Step inside, and you'll find a retail space showcasing local self-care brands and ethically sourced treasures from near and far. Lucy's eye for quality is evident in the thoughtfully curated collection of clothing, accessories, and potions gracing the shelves.

The class schedule offers something for everyone, from serene yin yoga classes to dynamic vinyasa. The space is warm and inviting with natural cork flooring, wood panelling, and soft lighting creating a gentle and nurturing atmosphere.

Before and after your practice, you'll have the chance to connect with fellow yogis over a soothing cup of Inner States tea. This is more than a yoga studio, it's a community hub where every detail has been thoughtfully chosen to enhance your journey to well-being.

Nourish

After you've clocked up a class at Commune, head next door to Nourish for a bite to eat. Nourish is both a bulk wholefoods store and vegetarian cafe run by a team of warm-hearted, community-minded staff. You can bring-your-own containers and fill them with pantry staples, or head to the grab-n-go section to refuel with pressed juices, smoothies, salads, rice paper rolls and stacked sangas made from local bread. Grab a wicker basket and stock up on some of my faves – you’ll usually find turmeric walnuts, Parcel Farm salad greens and Tuerong Farm sourdough amongst my haul.

Peninsula Hot Springs

As the Mornington Peninsula's original wellness mecca, Peninsula Hot Springs is a tranquil oasis located in the small town of Fingal. Here, natural hot springs are nestled amidst native vegetation including tea-tree and saltbush, with the sprawling property connected via a maze of meandering sandy paths. The naturally-heated mineral water relieves muscular tension and allows you to sink into a state of deep relaxation. Whether you're here for a spa day, a retreat or a yoga festival, Peninsula Hot Springs is the ultimate wellness escape. My favourite time to visit is in the evenings, when the surroundings come alive with a symphony of frogs and birdsong as the sun sets over the amphitheatre.

Luup

Hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Mornington's Main Street, Luup is a female-founded cafe, wellness store and lifestyle boutique. Conveniently located in the Homemaker's Centre, it's the perfect spot to swing past for a wholesome Breaky Bowl and a Little Rebel coffee, and you can even browse the curated retail space whilst you wait. Known for their selection of quality brands, Luup stocks a variety of local treasures, including Inner States, Gibson and Makers pottery, Kip + Co, and Pinky & Kamal. Whether you're on the lookout for thoughtful gifts or treating yourself to something special, Luup is a one-stop lifestyle shop.
