As you head down Dava Drive in Mornington, you’ll come across a sea of colourful steel chairs perched in a neat square of four on the corner. If you’re wondering who they belong to, well, you’ve discovered Flock Cafe.
In a quiet setting, Flock is visited by regulars every single day. Owner Meryn Cooper purchased the quaint cafe from the old owner five years ago and has since made it her own. Meryn, along with her husband, is ex Australian Navy, and has seen plenty of the world. She's since brought all the flavours she’s experienced into one. Flock.
Everything is made in house. Everything. From the irresistible breaky rolls to their famous chicken schnitzel focaccia. Meryn makes sure that Flock feels like a second home to some. Customers even suggest what they’d like to see on the menu. More often than not it’s there the next day, freshly made by the staff. Donut Day (Saturdays) is a massive hit with the community, partnering with Rebel Donuts to bring some of the most scrumptious donuts to their regulars and walk-ins alike.
You’ll instantly feel the family and community vibe when you enter the charming building. Everyone chats with everyone. Nobody is a stranger when you step into Flock Cafe. The unique area and building enables everyone from families to cyclists to passers by be able to enjoy something off the menu. With dog biscuits for their furry friends and blankets to use on a warm sunny day or cold wintery morning, Flock caters for all.
As soon as you enter, you become a friend. Meryn says she often takes time out to sit and chat with her customers. A 96-year-old lady still comes in for her regular coffee and snack and Meryn makes sure she spends time with her. They’ve carved a personal touch into their vibe, food and coffee and you can’t mistake it.
Open from 6am weekdays and 8am on weekends, Flock is a perfect spot to stop by and enjoy the Mornington community.
