Down a tree-lined driveway overlooking picturesque vineyards, you’ll find Lancemore Lindenderry, a 40-room boutique hotel, winery, cellar door, and hatted restaurant in the heart of Red Hill.
The expansive estate spans 34 acres of native bushland, vines, and orchards, complete with traditional rose gardens, tennis courts, an indoor pool, and a picturesque lake to picnic by in the summertime.
Once an old homestead and country estate, the hotel was refurbished by award-winning design studio Hecker Guthrie in 2018, creating intimate spaces and vignettes that reflect the rural setting. Warm and earthy materials are used throughout, with raw timber, bronze and leather softened by plush velvet. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down and take pause in the peaceful surroundings.
The hotel’s unique u-shaped design features expansive wall-to-wall windows and green outlooks from every room, with floor-to-ceiling sheer curtains filtering the natural light. Inside, the rooms are spacious and thoughtfully fitted with luxurious linens and furnishings. Each room boasts an open fireplace, inviting you to curl up with a book, a cheeseboard, and a glass of the estate‘s cool climate wines by celebrated winemaker Barney Flanders.
You can expect to find a petite mini bar stocked with a selection of local snacks and delicacies, including Cuvée Chocolate, Popkins Popcorn and Peninsula Nuts, with bottled cocktails from The Everleigh. In the bathrooms, there’s lush natural skincare by local brand Hunter Lab, and fluffy robes ready to slip into.
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, you’ll find the onsite restaurant conveniently located down the hall. The Dining Room is a hatted and locally sourced slow food dining experience that spans two distinct spaces; one light, bright and overlooking the outdoor terrace, the other dark and moody, with an open fireplace and views across the vines. The restaurant's offering spans lunch and dinner service, with a seasonal buffet breakfast served each morning for hotel guests.
Executive Chef Tony Brazendale worked at Michelin Star restaurants across the United Kingdom before landing in the kitchen at The Dining Room. He brings a refined elegance to the two- and three-course menus, which might feature roasted quail with foraged mushroom, corn and nasturtium, or wild venison paired with parsnip, white chocolate, blackberry and pepper sauce. Dessert might combine local figs with Peninsula honey, 75% cuvée bitter chocolate, and premium Jimmy Rum from down the road in Dromana.
After your meal, you can order a nightcap from the Peninsula Lounge Bar and settle into one of four communal areas to meet and mingle with like-minded travellers. Those who prefer a moment of solitude can retreat to their room to take in the views from the balcony, or toast s’mores on the open fire in the cooler months.
Whether you’re stopping by for a long lunch or whiling away a weekend, Lancemore Lindenderry Red Hill is an elegant destination to spend an afternoon or evening.
